What is CBD?

CBD is the shortened, abbreviated term for cannabidiol which is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis plants, this kind of compound is known as a cannabinoid. When you think of cannabis your mind may be led to the idea of smoking weed and getting high, and while that is also related to the cannabis plant, it is, in fact, another member of the cannabis family from which CBD is sourced - the hemp plant.

The cannabis family covers a wide range of plants which, while related, are made up of different chemical compositions and consequently have different effects on the body when ingested. Taking a CBD product will not get you high because there are no psychoactive properties. There are over a hundred cannabinoids found in cannabis and the mind-altering effects associated with smoking weed are actually the consequence of a cannabinoid called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which is only present in minute ineffective amounts in CBD products.

While CBD originates in hemp plants, it must be processed in a certain manner in order for people to enjoy the benefits in an easily accessible way. This is where the work of CBD processors and manufacturers comes into play.

At Reakiro we take pride in being in control of the entire CBD journey, from seed to shelf. We spent two years researching and locating the best European fields to grow our specially selected strains of hemp. After the plants have been grown they are taken to the processing facilities which uses the latest innovative technology to obtain a clean and pure CBD extract. This CBD extract is then used to formulate a wide range of products, which we look into next.

How do you take CBD?

CBD has an effect on the human body as a consequence of the interactions between the compound and a set of specific receptors in the body. These receptors, which consist of CB1 and CB2 receptors, make up a complex system called the endocannabinoid system. Receptors can be found in the central nervous system (the brain), the immune system, and the skin. As a result, the benefits of CBD can be harnessed for a wide range of issues across mental and physical wellness. Benefits include improved sleep quality, reduced anxiety, pain management, and reduced inflammation - amongst many others.

As there is a large number of reasons for which people take CBD, there is a corresponding range of different forms of this supplement. Some products are better suited for certain conditions - which we will look into in more detail in a moment - but different product forms also exist to suit different tastes and preferences.

Often considered the ‘original CBD product’, CBD oil is one of the most popular forms of this plant-based supplement. Reakiro’s CBD oil is made using our premium CBD extract and natural hemp seed oil.

The Reakiro CBD oil comes in a tincture and all you need to do is place the droplets under your tongue where they should be absorbed, this is known as sublingual administration. CBD oil has a natural, earthy, hemp taste. Some people love this taste and wish for it to be apart of their CBD experience, meanwhile, others would prefer to reap the benefits of this supplement without the taste.

CBD oil sprays have been formulated by Reakiro to give people the experience of CBD oil combined with zesty and refreshing flavours. Available in blood orange and peppermint, the CBD oil spray is a quick and refreshing way for you to get your CBD serving at any point in the day - one spray is one serving, it really is that simple. Our premium CBD oil is also available in capsule form, which makes a premeasured exact dosage easy and convenient for people to take when they’re busy and on the go.

But CBD doesn’t just have to be ingested. As mentioned earlier, there are a large number of endocannabinoid receptors located in the skin, which makes CBD the perfect skincare and topical ingredient. CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, using these properties we have formulated a range of products from facial creams which nourish the skin to muscle relief gels that soothe sore muscles before and after intense workouts.

How do you know how much CBD to take?

In the same way that everyone’s appetite differs depending on their physiological makeup, and other influencing factors like energy exertion, optimal CBD dosage varies from person to person. Things that are often taken into account when determining how much CBD you should take include weight, height, metabolism, and the condition you are addressing.

Reakiro’s CBD oils and capsules are available in a variety of potencies, with oils ranging from 300mg to 1500mg of CBD per bottle. When it comes to oils you can control the increase or decrease of the amount you are taking to the smallest increment. For those trying CBD for the first time, we would recommend starting with a 10mg dosage and increasing slowly while paying attention to the effects to find your optimal dose. The amount of CBD per serving size of five drops will be listed on the product information if you need assisting in calculating your intake.

The advantage of CBD capsules in terms of dosage is that each capsule has been measured precisely to contain an exact amount. This way you will not have to do any calculations and you have the assurance that each time you are taking the same amount of CBD. Our CBD capsules are available with the following dosages per capsule: 10mg, 15mg, 25mg, and 50mg.

There are no known adverse effects to taking too much CBD and studies from 2011 [1] and 2017 [2] have found that high doses of up to 1500mg a day are well tolerated by humans. In general, the side effect of taking too much CBD is drowsiness. Of course, we would not recommend taking such a high dosage! If you are currently taking any prescription medications please consult your doctor prior to taking CBD.

Where can I buy CBD?

We’ve gone through all the basic essentials and beyond on what you need to know about CBD, where it comes from, the many ways to take it, and all about the recommended dosage. So the last big question that remains is - where can I buy CBD?

As we mentioned at the beginning, chances are that you’re seeing CBD everywhere you look now - and this is great! One of Reakiro’s main missions is to spread education and knowledge about CBD to as many people as possible, so we’re so happy to share all CBD awareness. However, it is important to be thorough in your research before buying any old CBD.

The CBD market is new and booming, but unfortunately it remains unregulated. Owing to this, many low-grade companies are trying to cash in quickly off what they see as a trend, selling low quality CBD for inflated prices. Look for companies that have independent third party laboratory results which certify the quality and purity of their products. Another sign that a CBD company can be trusted is by reading customer reviews. These are the most authentic and closest acvcounts of how you will experience the product, and it helps to remember that when someone leaves a review it is purely to help other customers, there is no monetised motive.

If you have any questions about CBD please feel free to reach out to a friendly member of our team who will be happy to help answer any queries you may have.

We look forward to guiding you along the way of your CBD journey to discover our wide range of products and all the natural beneficial wonders of the hemp plant. This is just the beginning!
